Our Online Privacy Practices. Keeping your financial and personal information secure is one of our most important responsibilities. Dominion Energy Credit Union (“DECU”) is committed to protecting the information of our members and other visitors who use our website. We value your trust and handle all personal information with care. As with information we collect through other means, we use the information you provide online to respond to your needs, service your accounts, and provide you with information about other services.
For purposes of this Policy, "online" means utilization of an internet communication protocol to view, display, access, receive or transmit information. This Policy covers all our online practices, including, but not limited to our DominionEnergyCU.org website, our Online Banking service, our Mobile Banking app, and our Card Control mobile app. Our separate Privacy Policy, along with this Policy, describes the privacy and data security practices that we follow.
Email Security. Regular Internet email is not secure. You should never provide information that is sensitive or confidential such as your social security number, account number or PIN numbers. We also ask that you do not send personal or account Information through regular email.
Secure Transmissions. To ensure information remains confidential, Dominion Energy CU uses encryption technology such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to protect information you enter and submit from our website.
Cookies. Cookies are pieces of information stored directly on the device you are using. Cookies we use do not contain or capture unencrypted Personal Information. Cookies allow us to collect information such as browser type, time spent on the site, pages visited, language preferences, and your relationship with us. We use the information for security purposes, to facilitate navigation, to display information more effectively, to personalize/tailor your experience while engaging with us, and to recognize your device to allow your use of our online products and services. We collect statistical information about the usage of the site in order to continually improve the design and functionality, to monitor responses to our advertisements and content, to understand how account holders and visitors use the site and to assist us with resolving questions regarding the site. We also utilize cookies for advertising purposes. Tracking technologies also used are beacons, tags, pixels, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our website.
Linking to Other Sites. To provide you with easy access to information, DECU may provide links to other websites such as mortgage companies, insurance companies, government agencies. These links are provided as a convenience to our members. We do not guarantee or endorse any of the content in these links, and DECU does not represent either the third party or the member if the two enter into a transaction. The privacy and security policies on these linked websites may differ from those practiced by DECU. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of all websites you visit, especially before providing any personal non-public information.
Google Analytics. Many websites and apps use Google services to improve their content. When they integrate Google services, these sites and apps share information with Google. We use Google Analytics to better understand how users are visiting and using our sites. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. What Information Do We Collect? We take your privacy seriously and make the safeguarding of your Personal Information a priority. We collect Personal Information only as allowed by law. Use of the internet makes it possible for other parties to collect data about your online activities over time and across different websites, including when you use our Sites. We may collect Personal Information when you enter data into an application for new products or services or when you use our products and services. Personal Information may include your name, Access Number, home or other physical address, Social Security Number, telephone number, and email address. Additionally, our Sites may collect certain electronic data, such as your geolocation, IP address, and device identifier.
With Whom Do We Share the Information We Collect? We may share your Personal Information with affiliates and third parties in accordance with the practices set forth in our Privacy Policy. We do not and will not sell your Personal Information. We may use or share information to enhance your experience on our sites, to help deliver our ads on your web browser, and to measure advertising campaign effectiveness. We may also share your information as required to meet legal and regulatory obligations.
Data Sharing. Although DECU does not share your Personal Information with nonaffiliated third-party companies except as provided by our Privacy Policy, we are aware that you may choose to do so in order to use their services. For example, you may have authorized some third-party companies to access your Personal Information and account data to offer financial information and services such as: account aggregation (consolidating your financial account information from different sources), making payments via a website or mobile application, and tax preparation. Because these third-party companies have access to your Personal Information and account data and may use your account sign in credentials in order to provide the service, we recommend you use caution when granting such access to third-party companies.
Some of these third-party companies may use other companies to assist them with providing services or with accessing your Personal Information or account data. Any one or all of these companies may be storing your Personal Information or account data. DECU is not responsible for the use or disclosure of any Personal Information or account data accessed by or on behalf of any company or person to whom you provide your DECU sign in credentials or account information. We do not control the privacy, security, or accuracy of your information that may be held by these third-party companies, which are governed by the third-party’s privacy policy and data security program. We are also not responsible for any fees associated with these third-party services.
When you provide your sign in credentials to your DECU accounts to a third party, you will be deemed by us to have authorized all transactions or actions initiated by that third party using the access information you provided, whether or not you are aware of the specific transaction or action.
If you decide to revoke the access authority you previously gave to a third party, we strongly recommend that you change your DECU passwords to ensure that the party cannot continue to access your account. For security and other reasons, DECU reserves the right to block or disable third-party access to any account without notice.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Unless verifiable consent acceptable to us is obtained from a parent or legal guardian, we do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information obtained from our website about children under 13 years of age. We are not responsible for the data collection or use practices of any party to which our website may link. Digital Banking Mobile App. DECU’s digital banking mobile app may access the device’s contacts to perform transactions at the members request, but will not actually store the contact information in the app.
Card Control Mobile App. DECU’s Card Control mobile app periodically collects, transmits, and uses geolocation information for enabling features such as, but not limited to, card use and alerts to prevent fraudulent activates, but only if the end user expressly authorizes collection of such information. Geolocation information can be monitored on a continuous basis in the background only while the feature(s) are being used or not at all, depending on the end user’s selection. The end user can change their location permissions at any time in their device settings.
How to stop or unsubscribe from receiving communication from us. If your email address or a phone number for receiving text messages is on record with us, we may periodically send you educational or informational communication about products, services or events that we believe may interest you. Instructions for how you can stop or unsubscribe from receiving these messages are included in each communication that we send. However, we will still communicate with you in connection with servicing your account, fulfilling your request or about any promotion, service or program in which you have elected to participate.
